The EMM Group's project at 199 Bowery is going to be a multifaceted affair. The nightclub part of it is going to be called Finale, whose website went live earlier this week. Now, Grub Street learns that the restaurant portion of the concept will be called The General.
Earlier this month, EMM's Eugene Remm told Eater that the then-as-yet-unnamed restaurant would be a "rock-and-roll, very dark alternative to your traditional nightclub." The group expands on this, telling Grubz that the interior will have a red and gold theme and décor inspired by "urban excavation." Chef Hung Huynh's expansive menu will have a "Modern Asian" vibe going on, featuring items like firecracker crab claws and kung pao black sea bass. They're now targeting a December opening.
Update: This post originally implied that the restaurant was downstairs at 199 Bowery. There's actually a third space, another nightclub, that will be on the lower level. That nightclub does not yet have a name, but that is what will the "rock and roll" alternative to a regular club.
