Rosa Mexicano Sued by Feds for ADA Violations

Mexican mini-chain Rosa Mexicano is under fire from the US Attorney's office for failing to comply to the Americans with Disabilities Act, with claims by the feds that all three of the restaurant's locations are non-compliant in different ways. The First Avenue location, for example, lacks an accessible entrance (read: ramp), while none of them has a handicap-accessible bathroom. Other violations were found in the restaurants' dining rooms, bars, and waiting areas.

According to the Observer, the US Attorneys office recently started targeting the 50 most popular Zagat-rated restaurants for ADA compliance. Others were apparently also found with inaccessibility issues, but Rosa Mexicano is the first to be sued under this initiative. The restaurant's lawyer tells the Observer that while disagreeing with the allegations, management has been cooperating with the Department of Justice.
