Tribeca Grand Pulls the Plug On Bottoms Up

New, 8 comments

The Tribeca Grand Hotel has already pulled the plug on Travis Bass's pop-up nightclub Bottoms Up after just a few nights of operation. The reason? Everyone is being quiet on the explanations, but according to Bass, Bottom's Up was "epic." He notes that "it got crazier than we all could have expected," and that "it was always planned to be temporary." Of course it was. The hotel did not respond to a request for comment.

This is par for the course for Bass, the roving nightlifer whose parties at places like Madame Wong, Red Egg, and 151 Chrystie always seem to start out as white hot and end in a white hot mess, with Bass shutting up shop quickly and then looking for the next place to throw his unique events. The question is: How will this hit-and-run act play out when Bass goes corporate with his partnership at the soon to open 199 Bowery project with the EMM Group? Bass tells Eater that he is super excited about the project.
