White truffle season is almost here. It's that wonderful time of the year when chefs try to cram as many of those funky Italian mushrooms into their dishes as they possibly can. One of the best deals of the season is Trufflepalooza at Locanda Verde, where Andrew Carmellini and his crew serve three courses of things like creamy polenta, fonduta ravioli, and fresh gnocchi, all made with truffles. This year, the dinner $69.99 (a $20 increase from last year), and it will be offered on Monday, October 29. There are openings for that night still (212-925-3797), but great reservations will go fast.
