If cooking one of el bulli's family meals sounds a little daunting, how about trying one of the staff meals at the more accessible Union Square Cafe? Or Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, and Untitled? This fall chef Michael Romano, the corporate chef for Danny Meyer's stable of restaurants, is putting out a book of family meals from all of his restaurants, including it seems, one Meyer no longer owns and one that hasn't (at least not yet) opened. Here's the description:

Every night just before the dinner service, the entire staff of Danny Meyer's fiercely popular, award-winning restaurants — Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, Eleven Madison Park, Blue Smoke, Maialino, The Modern, Untitled at the Whitney, and North End Grill — sit down together for a meal. Special enough to please some of the nation's most discerning chefs, but simple enough for any home kitchen, these staff meals set the tone for the evening and boost camaraderie.
Called The Family Table the book will be released this October, a year before chef Michael Anthony's Gramercy Tavern cookbook.
