XIX Loses Its Head, Travertine To Reopen In February

Some nitty gritty nightlife news from Nolita, as apparently XIX, the basement lounge underneath the shuttered restaurant Travertine, has lost its head man Ruben Rivera and most of its promotion staff. No word on why the split happened, which Rivera announced last night on Twitter, although it could have something to do with the planned relaunch of the restaurant space in February. Rivera had said earlier that he would be assuming responsibility for the restaurant with a plan "to give people in the downtown community what they want," but a call to the restaurant reveals that there is a new management team coming in to run the restaurant. Apparently it doesn't include Rivera. Fans of XIX shouldn't get too upset, the club remains open for business.
