Danny Meyer’s new outpost of Blue Smoke in Battery Park City is finally nearing completion, and it will be the second restaurant to open of the three he has planned for his invasion of the underserved neighborhood.
Even though the red vinyl seating and blue table tops are reminiscent of the 27th Street location, Managing Partner Mark Maynard-Parisi describes the renovated space as a more grown up version of the barbecue spot. In addition to their standard menu, the Battery Park location will be offering a bar snack menu with items like chicken liver toast with apple preserves, chicken gumbo with okra, tomatoes and crispy tortilla, and bacon wrapped dates with pickled jalapeno. Dinner service will begin on January 9 with lunch service starting in the following weeks.
