Revamped Joe's Pub to Add Lounge and New Kitchen

Earlier today in the big start of 2012 rumor dump, we mentioned that the owners of the newly revamped and relaunched Joe's Pub in the East Village were adding a new restaurant to the space. This afternoon co-owner Josh Pickard confirms, saying he and Serge Becker are building a new kitchen, a David Rockwell-designed lounge, and and expanded lobby cafe as part of the continuing improvement and renovation of the venue.

Though Andrew Carmellini (Pickard's partner in Locanda Verde and The Dutch) has been rumored for the space, Pickard says the have yet to finalize the food plans and are considering various options. The working name is The Library because the building was originally the Astor Library, and it should open sometime into the third or fourth quarter.
