Alison Eighteen, a Restaurant Comeback, Opens Tuesday

On Tuesday, restaurateur Alison Price Becker will return to New York's restaurant world after an almost decade-long hiatus when she opens Alison Eighteen at 15 West 18th Street. For those unfamiliar, Price Becker ran the charming Tribeca restaurant Alison on Dominick Street for about 13 years before closing it soon after September 11.

Chef Robert Gurvich, the chef at Alison on Dominick for its last four years, returns as well and will serve a menu of simple French-influenced American dishes like spit roasted chicken, grilled quail risotto, herb steamed mussels, pork chops with broccoli rabe, and foie gras "a la plancha." The kitchen, like many newcomers this year, will feature a giant rotisserie, allowing them to serve daily roast specials, and the front of the restaurant will feature a to-go counter with pastries, salads and coups to go, and charcuterie and cheeses.

The restaurant itself—check out those blues and purples above—seats 117, has a 14 seat bar and is divided into a main dining room, a smaller cafe, and a private event space and lounge downstairs with a piano and, eventually, a billiards table.
