Some relatives of one Ben Newhouse sent along a fun item today. The precocious deal maker and student at Anderson School on the Upper West Side earlier this month convinced Danny Meyer to offer a $5 lunch special to his schoolmates at the Upper West Side location of burger chain Shake Shack. And according to an exchange between Ben and the higher ups at Shake Shack, Meyer is interested in launching similar deals at other locations that are relatively close to schools. Because why not find a way to get more adolescents and teenagers through those doors?
Reps say that Ben's $5 lunch deal (a hamburger or cheeseburger and an order of fries) will be available on weekdays for the month of February to all those with an Anderson school ID—offering a savings of about $2 per student. Time will tell if the program is extended here and elsewhere but kudos to young Ben.
