If Diddy Bought Surf Lodge, Would 'Montauk' Be Over?

New, 17 comments

Guest of Guest hears from a credible source (most likely the founder's husband) that Sean "Diddy" Combs has bought the Surf Lodge in Montauk, leaving the Guesties to wonder if this will be the final straw that breaks the once sleepy beach town's back. Considering the idea of "Montauk" is much cooler than the Montauk that exists in reality, having P. Diddy buy the hotel and restaurant that the original Montaukians believe ruined Montauk or, conversely, helped create the "Montauk" that most weekend warriors love, probably won't have much of an impact on either Montauk or "Montauk." People that do whine that "Montauk" is now over because P. Diddy has decided "Montauk" is now more Diddy than East Hampton and decided to buy the Surf Lodge are probably just stressed about the new kind of crowd they assume this rumored sale will bring.

Before you get too upset, actual Surf Lodge owner Steven Kamali shoots the whole thing down, saying "nothing could be further from the truth!"
