Inside Mathieu Palombino's One Day-Old Bowery Diner

Yesterday, Motorino chef and owner Mathieu Palombino opened his long delayed, hotly anticipated new haute diner The Bowery Diner, next to the New Museum. Yes there are chocolate malts, Reuben sandwiches, mac 'n' cheese, and cheeseburgers, but of course Palombino, a classically trained chef, didn't stop with the usual staples. There are also cocktails, whelks, duck confit with curly fries, choucroute, seafood towers, whitefish melts, and more. It's open for dinner and late night now (the abbreviated late night menu starts at 11 PM), and lunch and breakfast will launch soon.
