Inside The Americano at the Hotel Americano in Chelsea

Yesterday, The Americano, the restaurant at the newly opened Hotel Americano deep in Chelsea by the High Line, opened to the public. The restaurant is located at the back of the main level of the hotel, past a small bar area, and opens out onto a large outdoor patio. It's one of those sleek, modern hotel numbers, with black banquette seating, high ceilings, large light fixtures, and small marble table tops, a likely hit with the gallery crowds.

As for what's on the plate, chef Olivier Reginensi, a Daniel alum, serves a mostly French menu with a few Latin touches (black beans with the grilled octopus, chimichurri with the entrecote), seen below. Also: the front of the restaurant features a to-go counter for smoothies, juices, and takeaway breakfast and lunch, and food will come soon to La Piscine the hotel's roof (which features a small pool). Meanwhile the downstairs area features a bar (Bar Americano) and a small but very well designed private event space (El Privado).
