Park Slope's Fonda to Open East Village Location

New, 1 comment

Yesterday, EV Grieve noticed a liquor license application in the window of the old Octavia's Porch space which indicated that a Mexican restaurant named Fonda would be moving in. Today, the Local EV confirms that this is in fact going to be a new outpost of the popular Park Slope restaurant of the same name. Fonda was opened by Roberto Santibañez, who was once the culinary director for the Rosa Mexicano restaurants.

This is actually the the third Park Slope restaurant to make Manhattan expansion plans in the past few months. In August, news broke that Chiles and Chocolate was branching out to Chelsea, and an outpost of popular gastropub Beer Table just opened in Grand Central Terminal. Hopefully Fonda will have more luck than Nikki Cascone's restaurant, which lasted just six months.
