Status: Now Open
The first New York location of high-end Peruvian chain La Mar Cebicheria is now officially open in the humongous space that formerly housed Tabla, right off of Madison Square Park. The big player here is South American celeb chef Gastón Acurio, but his longtime chef Victoriano Lopez is the one running the show day-to-day. The menu features many Peruvian classics with an emphasis on fresh seafood, including dishes like cebiche and anticuchos.
The room has been reworked by Stephanie Goto, the architect who oversaw the design of Aldea and Corton. The space is modern-looking, with a few unique details like a "texture wall" and a "cloud chandelier." Check out the menu here, and do send any early reports our way.
