Next week, John DeLucie, he of The Lion, (formerly) The Waverly Inn, and Sesame Street, will open his new Upper East Side restaurant Crown in the former Bruno Jamais space. The restaurant has already been host to glamorous previews parties and photo shoots galore, but the public debut is set for Friday, September 9, in the height of fall's Fashion Week, with lunch coming the following Monday. The vibe they're going for this time sounds pretty dark and moody, with working fireplaces, wood paneled walls, and a large skylight (see: The Lion) in a turn of the century mansion. Vogue wrote this spring that it feels like a "nineteenth-century gentleman’s club."
The food will be "continental" and made by DeLucie, but more often than not by his head chef here Jason Hall (a Gotham Bar & Grill and Anthos/Mia Dona alum). The team is rounded out by Heather Bertinetti (formerly of the Michael White/Chris Cannon kingdom), and Jordan Salcito from Daniel. They reservation number isn't up and running quite yet but it should be after the holiday weekend.
