Now it's clear why The Bean, the 9 year-old coffee shop in the East Village, is opening a location just a block away. The landlord has decided to replace their original 1st Ave. and 3rd Street location with a Starbucks and gave them 30 days to clear out. Locals are, obviously, not pleased. But not to worry.
