At the end of August, workers at the forthcoming East 14th Street branch of IHOP—New York's first House of Pancakes downtown—put a paper sign in the window saying "We're Not Open," probably because of the surprisingly intense interest. Later they added "Please Do Not Walk In" to the sign and Foursquare's Dennis Crowley noticed that ever since, passersby have been adding little notes including "WHY?", "I'm super baked and I need IHOP, please!" and "Please call me when you are open!" with the inclusion of a cell phone number. So, yeah, people want their Rooty Tooty Fresh 'n' Fruity®. Stat.

IHOP is scheduled to open on September 20.
