Artwork, posters, books (some of which were signed by celebrities and authors), memorabilia (including a baseball signed by George Steinbrenner), and Table No. 1 from the now shuttered Upper East Side restaurant Elaine's will go up for auction on September 20, City Room reports:
Doyle New York, the auction house that is handling the sale, estimates that Table No. 1 and its four chairs will go for $400 to $600. Also on the block will be the papier-mâché carousel horse that was in the window for years (estimated selling price, $200 to $300), copper pots from the kitchen (also estimated at $200 to $300) and the vintage cash register from behind the bar (estimated selling price, $400 to $600).Also going up for auction are paintings from owner Elaine Kaufman's apartment, including two pieces by Andy Warhol, estimated at $10,000 - $15,000 each. The two buildings that housed Elaine's are still on the market, even though many major players have looked into the properties.
