A couple of years ago, former New York Times restaurant critic William Grimes published a dense but wonderful account of New York City restaurant history called Appetite City. The book is a must read for New York nostalgists and restaurant world enthusiasts, so it's great news to hear Channel 25 is taking the book as inspiration for a new show. This Thursday, Appetite City the show will air at 8:30 PM, and in it Grimes will take "viewers on a journey about how soul food, delis and farmers’ markets all came to be a part of New York’s history." The first episode focuses on soul food and will be screened outdoors at Tavern on the Green tomorrow. See a teaser for the whole series below.
