Old Tribeca Dive Walkers to Open Pizzeria Tomorrow

New, 9 comments

For over three years, landmarked Tribeca dive Walker's has been working on expanding. In May 2008, they updated the facade and added outdoor seating. They took over the adjacent space later that year and finally announced they'd be opening a pizzeria there at a Community Board 1 meeting in February 2010. Now they're ready to open.

Tribeca Citizen reports that the pizzeria is called Girello, and it will open tomorrow. According to original plans, the restaurant will have 34 seats, a six-seat bar, and a wood-burning oven.

In other Tribeca area news, the pastry chef has left soon-to-open restaurant Atera (fka Compose), and Kevin Richer, the former GM of Tabla, will join Floyd Cardoz at North End Grill, opening this December.
