LOWER EAST SIDE— The Lower East Side location of Mexican food truck Mexicue will open on September 9 at 106 Forsyth Street between Broome and Grand Streets. [EaterWire]

BUCKSWIRE—Today Starbucks announces that its K-Cups are going to hit "grocery stores and specialty retailers in the U.S. starting in November 2011" and will be sold in regular Starbucks stores "later in 2012." The plan, according to the president of Starbucks Global Consumer Products Group, is to "build Starbucks systemwide sales of K-Cup into a $1 billion business over time." A billion dollars of single-use un-recyclable plastic pod things is maybe a lot of garbage. [Eater National]

WILLIAMSBURG—New Williamsburg restaurant Saint Austere will open to the public at 613 Grand St. on September 7 with a menu of 25 beers, 10 wines, a large range of small plates, cured meats and cheeses, and sandwiches. [EaterWire]

GOVENOR'S ISLAND—The menu is out for Pig Island, the meatastic event taking place on Govenor's Island on September 10. It includes Hudson Valley carnitas, pork schnitzel sandwiches, rilletes, meatballs, pork roast, pork sausage, escarole and pulled pork salad, maple bacon sticky buns, pulled pork sliders, pig's head tacos, and oh so much more.
