The new issue of New York features a 9/11 Encyclopedia which includes a remembrance of Windows on the World by Ruth Reichl. She recalls a sensational wine list, some great dishes, and the exhilarating experience of walking into the restaurant after the elevator ride. Her final thought: "It’s been said we’ve romanticized the place after the horror of what happened there. I’d say we romanticized it all along. It was never about the food. It was about ambition and dreams. It was a temple of New York magic." [NYM]
