When Dans Le Noir opens in the old Andrew's Coffee Shop space on West 38th Street after many fits and starts across the city, New Yorkers will (finally) have their chance to eat prix fixe meals in the dark while being served by blind waiters. So, there's that. But why wait for the official opening when there's a one-off dark dining event at the end of September at the Ace Hotel?
This event comes from a group called Opaque, and they're selling tickets for $149 - $159 for seatings on September 22 - 24. The dinner will include five courses made by April Bloomfield and Peter Cho at The Breslin. As the organizers explain, "This is a chance to take a short leave from the visual world and let a different kind of sensual consciousness into the sandbox for just a little while...You will never turn the lights on during dinner again." No word on whether or not this pop-up will include panic buttons.
