Bowery 2.0 already has its fill of condo high-rises and shiny new hotels, but perhaps it doesn't have quite enough chain stores and restaurants. Enter 7-Eleven, the convenience store and Slurpee vendor that has pledged to open 15 - 20 new stores in Manhattan by 2012 and 100 in the next five years. EV Grieve recently spotted the above ominous plans for a new location within the long dormant retail space of 351 Bowery, a glassy condo complex. Soon workers and residents may be able to get a sandwich at Subway and a Slurpee or Big Gulp at 7-Eleven just like back in suburbia (or Greenpoint, Tribeca, or the Upper West Side).
