Just a year after restaurateur Scott Conant exported a New York concept, Scarpetta, to Vegas, he may be importing a Vegas idea, D.O.C.G., back here. A few weeks ago, a West Village resident spotted folks from Scott Conant's Meatpacking District restaurant Scarpetta outside the old Paris Commune space looking for signatures in support of a new 'casual' version of Scarpetta there. At the time, Conant's people said he couldn't "confirm at this time" what his plans were, and while they still don't have an update as of this morning, Eater sources do.
They reveal that the restaurant is going to be a version of Conant's D.O.C.G. in Vegas and that the deal was finalized this week. D.O.C.G. is a wildly popular Italian spot in the Cosmopolitan next to Scarpetta, a supposed go-to for industry people after their shifts in some of the fine dining palaces on the strip. So prep for more Italian in the West Village.
What else is on Conant's agenda? There's word of a Scarpetta in Dubai and a new airport eatery in NYC. Busy guy.
