Last week, Taavo Somer, he of Freemans, Peels, and the Rusty Knot, soft opened Isa, his long tracked beauty of a 40-seat new restaurant with former Il Buco chef Iganacio Mattos. And this week, TONY takes a look inside the rustic space, complete with wood touches, plenty of exposed brick, a tile floor, doors that completely open to the street, and an open kitchen with a fired up hearth.
The restaurant will officially open at the end of the month, but for now they're open Tuesdays - Saturdays from 6 - 11 PM with a menu that is, according to the voice mail at the restaurant, "still developing." (See early takes on the limited menu, sardines with fried skeletons, whole roasted squid, here and here). Eager diners can make reservations by leaving a message at 347-689-359. Just know it's cash only and, as of last week the restaurant was awaiting its liquor license.
