Followers of the Chumley's saga will not be surprised to learn the historic old bar's reopening has been delayed once again, and it is now scheduled to debut well into 2012. Chumley's originally closed in April 2007 and was at one point almost completely dismantled. It was set to open in spring '09, then fall '09, then fall 2010, then this October, then the holidays. Now, per a new post over at City Room, the owner "has set his sights on 2012." What's the big hold up now? Apparently, the adjacent building at 56 Barrow butted up against the building and "Nothing could go forward until that was rectified, and it took a year and a half to work out." The landlord promises that they're working through the last of the construction issues now.

When it does reopen, it will be restored to its former glory (as much as that is really possible) and will not, as some neighbors alleged earlier this year, become a sports bar.
