Late August is becoming a high time for smaller profile chef shuffles. David Santos just left his post at Hotel Griffou after 10 months, Nicholas Cantrel is out at Brasserie Beaumarchais, and yesterday chef Brian Murphy resigned from his post at the four month-old Monument Lane.
He writes, "Yesterday, August 22, I tendered my resignation to Josh Frum, principal, effective immediately, due to irreconcilable operational and creative differences. It’s been a privilege to have New York City try my food, and I look forward to my next project." So far the restaurant hasn't received a great deal of critical attention, but Lauren Shockey at the Voice found it "middling" and Julia Moskin called it a pleasant neighborhood spot.
