Rumors of a Momofuku Milk Bar for the Upper West Side spread back in July, but today's New York fall preview guide confirms the northward expansion. Christina Tosi and her merry band of bandana-donning pastry pros will open a location of the bakery on Columbus and 87th Street in September. It's just one block from the park, 10 blocks from Shake Shack, and within reach of Upper West Side dessert heavies Levain and Magnolia. It will be bigger than all the other branches, with places to sit inside.
The Robs report there will be a new pork bun with an optional deep-fried soft-poached egg, which is probably just this one that they serve in Williamsburg. This Milk Bar, the city's fourth, will open in September, and look out for a new cookbook at the end of October.
