By the end of August, with the surfeit of dead dining rooms and the news cycle slowing to a trickle, it's always nice to welcome a fall preview or two to fight the summer doldrums. So readers should be pleased to see New York and Metromix, always the first out of the gate, present their monster fall preview guides. (Expect TONY's soon and the Times' after Labor Day.)
The Robs seem most excited about some foreign imports including La Mer Cebicheria (the Peruvian spot opening in the old Tabla space), Romera (the nutzo place opening in the Dream Hotel), and Jung Sik Dang (the new Korean spot opening in the old Chanterelle space). Other spots to watch include Mathieu Palombino's Bowery Diner, Jeffrey Chodorow's Kutsher's, Torrisi spinoff Parm, Danny Meyer's North End Grill, and in Brooklyn, a City Bakery alum's 606 R&D and Saul Bolton's Red Gravy. Look out for more fall preview coverage as we get deeper into the openings season.
