Last night, Eater and food52 got together with industry folks, readers, and the 16 restaurants and 15 judges that participated in our first restaurant competition The Bib at LTO on the edges of the Lower East Side and Chinatown. Ma Peche mixed up some mean cocktails, Kin Shop, chef Leah Cohen, Wonder City Coffee & Donuts, and Dolce Vizio provided the snacks, and comedian and final judge Andy Borowitz crowned the Bib's ultimate winner. Over many rounds and many weeks of dining and voting, the little restaurant that could, Torrisi Italian Specialties, beat out its worthy rivals, and Rubirosa landed the People's Choice award. So, a banner evening for Mulberry Street.
Borowitz's final review is now live on food 52, for those who care to see how meals at Torrisi and its last competitor Marea stack up. All of the other heats, rounds, and judge info can be found here. It's been fun. Now back to Shitshow Week.
Special thanks to LTO, Ma Peche, Kin Shop, Leah Cohen, Wonder City Coffee & Donuts, Dolce Vizio, the Languedoc Region for the wines, and all of our esteemed judges.
