Alan Richman wasn't the only big magazine columnist to pen a piece about celebrated Long Island City diner M. Wells for September. Andrew Knowlton, not knowing the place was on the verge of shuttering, wrote a very different kind of review and included the restaurant in his new list of the 10 Best New Restaurants in America. Not perfect timing admittedly, but perhaps they will actually reopen in a timely fashion (though they have yet to nail down a new space). He writes:
Go for lunch and order the French onion soup if they have it—it's the best I've had. If you ask, they'll put foie gras on top. In fact, you can add foie to a lot of things here. Looks like I'm gonna need to walk back to Manhattan.Other restaurants include Husk, Mission Chinese Food, Son of a Gun, The Walrus and the Carpenter, and more.
