Reps for La Mar Cebicheria Peruana, the big, new, splashy Peruvian restaurant opening in the Tabla space this September, have a couple of announcements today about the first New York location of the international chain. Victoriano Lopez, a chef who has worked alongside chef/owner Gaston Acurio for 17 years, will serve as Executive Chef, and Stephanie Goto, known in these parts for her work on Corton, Aldea, and Morimoto will design the space. They say her planned design will be "...beautiful and contemporary, with clean lines, a neutral palette accented with La Mar’s signature bright colors, customized furniture and one of a kind installations evoking the spirit of Peru."
Acurio's restaurant, which has a location in San Francisco, will serve "haute Peruvian cuisince," including ceviches, causas, tiraditos, anticuchos, and large plates. The wine list will include mostly South American picks, and the cocktail menu will center around pisco. Expect more as the restaurant nears completion next month.
