1) Ferragosto at Eolo
Where: 190 Seventh Avenue
When: Saturday and Sunday
What: This Chelsea Sicilian restaurant is celebrating the Italian summer holiday of Ferragosto by offering a special menu: $37 for a glass of wine, family-style appetizers, pasta, and dessert. Requires a reservation; (646) 225-6606.
2) Opening Day at Dolce Vizio
Where: 131 Christopher Street
What: New York's first ever tiramisu-only shop is opening today and they are offering free tiramisu between noon and 1 PM. The menu features several traditional versions of the dessert, but you can also build your own. Michelin-starred chef Fabrizio Ferrari consulted on the recipes.
3) Apiary's Third Anniversary Special
Where: 60 Third Avenue
What: Scott Bryan's East Village New American restaurant is offering a deal to celebrate their third anniversary this week: each party will receive a $20 gift certificate for a future meal. The offer is available Sunday the 14th through Sunday the 21st. There are still plenty of great tables available for Sunday night.
4) The Pint Mash-Up at 61 Local
Where: 61 Bergen Street
When: Saturday starting at 11 AM
What: This Cobble Hill pub is hosting a pop-up ice cream stand from Steve's Ice Cream with scoops, sandwiches, and floats made with beer or soda. Kickstand will be serving iced coffee, and there will be free samples of new ice cream flavors (made with beer) from 6 PM to 1 AM. Each float purchase comes with a raffle ticket. At 11 PM, prizes from local food artisans will be given away.
5) Brunch at Neely's Barbecue Parlor
Where: 1125 First Avenue
When: Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM - 3 PM
What: The new Southern restaurant from Pat and Gina Neely is launching brunch this weekend. There are some unusual items on the menu like smoked brisket hash with poached eggs, Velvet Elvis-style stuffed French Toast, "kitchen sink" quiche, and chicken and waffles.
Also of Note: The weather's going to be great this weekend for both Smorgasburg (Saturday only) and the food stalls at Rockaway Beach.
