The Five Best Comments on Eater this Week

New, 2 comments

Welcome to Saturday Night Five, where we shine a light on the best quips, barbs, burns, and nuggets of truth from Eater NY commenters. Here's this week's cream of the crop:

5) Bigapplediningguide on the grilled cheese martini at Beecher's:

I love cheese. I worked at Murray's. I owned my own little cheese shop in the 'burbs. And I have to say...that is revolting.
4) Sunil Gopinath has seen a bar up-charge worse than the one at Le Poisson Rouge:
At Kasadela, a Japanese restaurant in Alphabet City there's an extra charge for beer with no foam.

3) ChesterDarlington likes the vibe of new Prospect Heights bar Bearded Lady:

Swangin! I am so gonna get laid here.
2) WDT has one theory on why NYC chefs don't open restaurants in San Francisco:
It's much more about the labor laws in SF. There is no tip credit (servers get full minimum wage) and mandatory health care. Add on all their Department of Buildings requirements and it's really hard to make money in SF. Most small operators don't have the bankroll.
1) ST. a is a fan of the Le Bernardin dining room, just the way it is:
That 80's look is going to be missed - where am i going to wear my padded shoulder jackets and jellied ponytail now?
