Exclusive: A Final Look Inside The Legendary Mars Bar

New, 19 comments

There isn't much that hasn't been said about Mars Bar. The legendary bar was a throwback to a different, and many argue better, era in the East Village and New York City and was always filled with a fiercely loyal cast of regulars who helped make the bar a one of a kind place, although some found it to be pretty shitty. The bar was forced to close to make way for a new condo development that will replace the existing, dilapidated structure, and the planned month long goodbye blowout was cut short by a Department of Health shutdown.

Eater now presents an exclusive final look inside the Mars Bar, showing the bar's unique mix of nastiness and beauty in one haunting photoset. No matter your opinion of the bar, its a safe bet to say that there will never be another place like it.
