Mama's Food Shop, an excellent and cheap comfort food staple on East 3rd Street near Avenue B is finally taking its hipsterish ethos over the East River to Brooklyn. They'll be opening a permanent South Williamsburg location as soon as next month. And in the meantime, they'll operate a pop-up cafe out of Greenpoint bar Veronica People's Club.
Starting today, the Mama's team will serve plates of fried chicken, pork shoulder, seasonal vegetables, and mac and cheese on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 6 - 10 PM. Prices run $10 for a plate of three sides, $11 for a meat with a side, and $12 for a meat with two sides. The portions will be just as generous as they are in the East Village, and the hours will coincide with the bar's happy hour. Look out for more news on the permanent Williamsburg location next week.
