BOOK DEALS— Alex Guarnaschelli, chef at The Darby and Butter, has signed a deal to write two cookbooks. The first one will come out in spring 2013 and will feature 100 recipes of "simple, approachable comfort food" using "old school techniques." [EaterWire]

PARK SLOPE— Here's Park Slope reports that someone shattered the side door of Brooklyn's Chip Shop this morning during a robbery. The restaurant's safe was stolen. [HPS]
