Welcome to our photo series Eater Scenes, where Eater photographer Daniel Krieger visits some of the city's great restaurants to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. Today, 'inoteca.[Krieger, 6/29]
Almost a decade ago, when the Lower East Side was more gritty than fratty and there was not a whole lot to talk about in terms of food, brothers Joe and Jason Denton expanded their minuscule West Village wine bar to a corner space on Rivington and Ludlow. They serve now, as they did then, panini, tramezzini, antipasti, and a long list of wine, and somehow, as the neighborhood has evolved over the last nine years, 'inoteca has managed to pack in the crowds into the wee hours the night. Now there's a Murray Hill location, a MePa spinoff, and restaurants planned for Williamsburg and Tribeca.
