WEST VILLAGE—A tipster writes in with an update on Red Farm: "I was looking at coverage of Red Farm, the restaurant from Ed Schoenfeld, El Chod, and Joe Ng, to open in the West Village @ w 10th and Hudson streets. I have it on good authority that the space is nearing completion (if not already finished by the time I'm writing this) and the restaurant will be open, almost certainly, some time in the middle of this month." FLATIRON—When the 40/40 Club reopens after $10 million in renovations it will have a new chef. Owner Jay Z hired his personal chef, Mike Shand, to take the reins. He'll add a bunch of the rap star's favorite dishes to the menu. [TMZ]
FLATIRON—— Zagat reports that chef Waldy Malouf is no longer involved with his casual pizza concept Waldy’s Wood Fired Pizza: "Malouf confirmed that he gave up the side project after protracted legal actions against his partner - he hasn’t been involved since December of last year." [Zagat]
MIDTOWN— Eddie's Pizza Truck is launching a line of pizza carts. Midtown Lunch reports, "The cart was modeled after a 1930’s street car and will offer almost the entire current menu (no street meat pizza though, sorry!) They suspect its the first ever halal style pizza cart ever built in the city, but we’ll have to defer to the pizza experts for that one." [ML]
