1) Lower East Side: Bowery Boogie reports that Soiree, the nighlife spot that was once called BLVD, has closed at 199 Bowery: "Word on the street is that it’ll become a high-end restaurant, and that some big-time players in the nightlife game have already sniffed out the location. Talks are still ongoing." [BB]
2) Bay Ridge: A tipster reports that Rustica Cafe out in Bay Ridge has closed: "Nice place that they poured a fortune into renovating has closed after only about a year. I live nearby, and went there about once a week for breakfast. Unfortunately, when I passed it this morning the windows were covered with paper and a sign reading 'CLOSED - thanks to our customers.' Very sad." [ShutterWire]
3) Chelsea: Both a tipster and Jeremiah Moss point out that Viceroy restaurant in Chelsea recently closed after 18 years in business. Says a reader: "Oh so beautiful to look at but so hard to enjoy. If the food could have been 1/10th as pretty as that bar, it would have been a huge success. When I moved to Chelsea in the late 90's, a wait job required perfect biceps and that was enough to guarantee a clientele. Alas a pretty bar isn't enough to succeed." [JVNY]
4) Flatiron: Another reader writes in, "Long time neighborhood staple Meli Melo [110 Madison Ave.] has been shuttered for about 3 months due to a fire in its building." The phone number has been disconnected. [ShutterWire]
