Eater Chicago brings word that Energy Kitchen the New York health food chain that currently has 10 locations throughout Manhattan, will open 30 locations the Chicago area. The eight year-old chain now counts Vitamin Water co-founder Mike Repole as one of his its investors, and Chicago is just the beginning. There are also plans to open 75 shops on the East Coast and, with the goal of opening 1,000 stores in the next 10 years.
For those unfamiliar, Energy Kitchen are those little take out spots located near big commercial neighborhoods that look kind of like gym cafes and serve meals that are all under 500 calories. According to Anthony Leone thought, they do it "without sacrificing taste."
