1) Lower East Side: Grub Street reports on the new Hachember. Before Hachember came along, the space has seen a "series of bizarro metamorphoses" with Wylie Dufresne's 71 Clinton Fresh Food, Fat Hippo and more recently Patate Fellow. Hachember brings a bar-otsumami with small Japanese snacks like french fries, fried chicken, curry and shumai. Status: Certified open; 71 Clinton Street, 212-533-4781.
2) Hell's Kitchen: Life With Food and Drink and Fork in the Road note a new wine bar in the old Fragolino space: La Carafe. La Carafe offers an extensive menu featuring over 100 wines and Niçois-influenced bites, despite the small space. You will find spiced chickpea fritters, grilled merguez, and eggplant caviar, as well as pasta, seafood, and mains like cassolette de moules on the menu. 3) West Village: Owners of the West Village branch of Grand Sichuan add Old Town Hot Pot (right) to their repertoire, just a few blocks away on 7th Avenue South. Old Town Hot Pot offers create your own hot pots with various meats and veggies, and also feature interesting appetizers, like Hawthorn with Sour Radish. Prices are very reasonable. 4) Greenwich Village: The New York Times writes about the new Mille-feuille, a pastry shop from Olivier Dessyn. They offer brownies, cookies, mille-feuilles, madeleines, loaf cakes, pains au chocolat, croissants and macarons in many flavors. Coming soon: summer fruit tartlets, éclairs and other classics, as well as some sandwiches and salads to enjoy at upcoming sidewalk cafe. Status: Certified open; 552 LaGuardia Place, 212-533-4698.
5) Greenwich Village: Amorino, a popular gelato chain in Europe is now open in New York. Their signature is to scoop gelato in the shape of a flower. They offer over 20 flavors for pretty flower gelato creation. Status: Certified open; 60 University Place, 212-253-5599.
6) Williamsburg: The New York Times also brings word of the new Fat Goose, a new gastro-pub-style restaurant which has been the unfortunate victim of serious delays. Status: Certified open; 125 Wythe Avenue, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 718-963-2200.
7) Williamsburg: Neapolitan pizza maker Giulio Adriani has opened Forcella, the New York Times reports. Their Facebook offers some food shots. Status: Certified open; 485 Lorimer Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, (718) 388-8820.
