Madame Wong's Shut Down By NYPD, May Be Over

Madame Wong's, the hottest underground party in New York for the past few months, hit a rough patch last weekend when the NYPD shut it down. The parties, which are run by French bon vivant Simonez Wolf, were thrown at Jobee, and required a password to get in that Wolf sent around the day of the party. It was only a matter of time before the good times came to an end. First, Jobee's liquor license renewal was denied by the Community Board since the Madame Wong parties were not part of its original method of operation, and now the license has expired. The NYPD raid, which happened on Saturday night, was the final coup de grace, giving Madame Wong's a final bit of street cred before it was all over. Fans of the party shouldn't fret. Simonez recently told Eater that he is working on a new party with a completely different concept that will be coming soon.
