DNA Info learns that the former Sin Sin space is going to reopen as a European-style bakery, albeit one with later hours and a full liquor license. Sin Sin, a notorious club in the area, went out of business last year after neighbors launched a full fledged campaign against the place, citing loud noise and violence. It finally closed shortly after a man was fatally shot outside the club following a night of drinking there. Neighbors may not take to the idea of another full license.
Still, it sounds innocent enough. The cafe, currently called Sweet Boutique will have two floors of seating, display cases on the ground floor, a bar on the second floor and will serve pastries, salads, and sandwiches. The owner explains that he needs the liquor license and the late hours to make the business viable.
Says one neighbor, "I am having a hard time envisioning what kind of patisserie that would be, serving vodka and croissants."
