Last month, Daniel Angerer and Lori Mason pulled the plug on their sausage concept Brats: Dogs & Weiners, and expanded their next-door restaurant Little Cheese Pub into the space. Now Grub Street learns that the couple have more changes in the works, this time at their first project, Klee Brasserie.
Next month, they will close Klee and reinvent it as casual Austrian wine bar (or "heuriger"), with a simplified, more affordable menu. Mason explains:
Klee's been around for five years. We were kind of ready for it....With the change in the economy, people’s spending habits have changed. They’re not spending as much on wine; check averages have gone down. We decided to go with the grain instead of against it.They hope to launch the new project by the fall. In the meantime, they're selling off choice bottles from their "multi-award winning wine list," to any interested customers.
