Last December the notorious American breakfast chain IHOP announced it would be expanding operations in New York by adding 24 new stores to the metropolitan area. And yet, learning that East 14th Street is about to get a dose of Rooty Tooty Fresh 'n' Fruity® is still coming as a bit of a surprise.
EV Grieve spots signage for the upcoming IHOP in the dark ground floor of a residential building on East 14th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, not the weirdest spot for the chain, but a little further from Union Square and its TGI Friday's brethren than one would expect. Looking on the bright side, Grieve is happy that at least it's not a giant nightclub, which was a worry when the space first went on the market.
Two other IHOPs are currently on the books for Harlem and Times Square.
