Cops Show Up at Max Fish, Shut the Place Down

New, 2 comments

And the Max Fish saga continues: last night around 10 PM, the police rolled up to the legendary LES dive bar with court papers in hand, and closed the place down. The Lo-Down breaks the news and notes that the shutter was for "alleged underage drinking and operating after hours." The watering hole is expected to reopen in about a week or so.

These sort of crackdowns have become more and more common in the neighborhood — a month ago, nearby establishments Los Feliz and Mason Dixon, were both closed for the same reasons. Those spots were able to reopen after paying some big fines and hiring security guards, which Max Fish might do, but as we know, they're moving out next January because they've been priced out of the space anyway.
