Just earlier this week, we learned that the operators of West Village restaurants Dell'Anima and L'Artusi are taking over the restaurant space in the soon to open Nolitan hotel and will open a restaurant called Ellabess there sometime this summer. But that's not the only thing on their plate.
EV Grieve notices that August Cardona, one of the principal owners of the restaurants and of their group Epicurean Management Co., is on the Community Board 3 docket for 11 E. First Street, currently the space of Bowery Wine Co. According to CB3's documents, he plans to expand the space—insiders tell Eater he's taking over two adjacent spaces in addition to the wine bar—and his new project will hold 50 tables seating 160 people. He hopes to keep it open from 11 AM - 2 AM seven days a week. We'll know more once he presents in front of the board, but as for now Cardona's reps write that "EMCo. is constantly working on and taking steps towards developing new opportunities."
Bowery Wine Bar is located within the Avalon Bowery complex, opened just three years ago, and was the site of the "Die Hard Yuppie Scum" protests back when community members were led to believe Bruce Willis was a major investor.
